A love of interiors, an eye for the unexpected, and a belief that the perfect rug can change everything.

For Ashley Obradovits, design has always been a part of her story. Raised by an interior designer with an incredible eye for beautiful things, Ashley grew up surrounded by antiques, colorful fabrics, and thoughtfully layered interiors. From tagging along to furniture markets at a young age to spending summers working in her family's furniture and design stores, her appreciation for beautiful spaces began long before she ever considered a career in design.

After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Architectural Studies, Ashley spent nearly a decade in the fashion industry before finding her way back to her roots in interior design.

Today, Ashley is an award-winning interior designer based in St. Louis, Missouri, known for her whimsical take on traditional design, fearless use of color, and love of mixing old with new. Her interiors are layered, collected, and full of personality, with a healthy dose of the unexpected. She believes the most beautiful homes are those that tell a story, embrace a little imperfection, and never take themselves too seriously.

And then came the rugs.

Wonderwhim was born out of a frustration Ashley knew all too well as an interior designer: finding the perfect rug. Time and again, she found herself searching for just the right pattern, color, or size to complete a room, only to come up short. Rather than continuing to compromise on one of the most important elements of her designs, she decided to create what she couldn't find.

What began as a solution for her own interior design projects quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, Wonderwhim Co. brings together Ashley's two passions: creating beautiful interiors and designing custom, hand-knotted rugs.

With a love of traditional patterns, playful details, and unexpected color combinations, Ashley designs rugs that feel both timeless and refreshingly different. Each rug is thoughtfully created with the same attention to detail she brings to her interiors, with customizable colors and sizes that allow designers and homeowners to make each piece their own.

At its heart, Wonderwhim is about creating spaces that feel personal, collected, and entirely unique. Whether she's designing an entire home or the rug that pulls it all together, Ashley believes a little whim goes a long way.

Beyond the studio

When she's not dreaming up new rug designs or transforming homes, Ashley can usually be found with her husband, Michael, and their two daughters, Piper and Lottie. Between soccer games, field hockey, family adventures, and the occasional antique-shopping detour, life is every bit as colorful as the spaces she creates.

And while her mother's influence can be seen throughout her work, Ashley is now creating her own design legacy, one colorful room and whimsical rug at a time.
